Evie's story

Evie was liberated from a dairy farm on December 23, 2021 at the age of four. On September 26th, 2021, we took a trip to a dairy farm to liberate three cows, and as we were walking through the dairy barn, we locked eyes with Evie who was laying on the ground alone, withdrawn from the rest of herd. We knew in that moment that we had to help her, so we asked the farmer if he would be willing to surrender Evie to us instead of sending her to slaughter when her time came. A few months later in December, we received an unexpected call. The farmer remembered that we connected with Evie and let us know that she would be sent to slaughter if we didn’t take her. She had become more and more withdrawn as the days went by, and her milk production had slowed so much that the farm no longer considered her profitable. For this reason, she was of no use to them and they were going to send her to the slaughterhouse. We offered Evie a home on the spot and picked her up the following week. Evie is living now free and living a happy, safe, fulfilled life at UNH where the love and bananas are ever flowing.
